Makhana Also known as fox nuts or lotus seeds are a very healthy option if you’re looking for a snack in between your meals.

1. They have a very high magnesium content and low sodium so are very beneficial for people with heart disease, high blood pressure and obesity.

2. They are low in cholesterol and fat hence they prove to be an ideal snack.

3. They have a very low glycaemic index and are recommend it to people who are suffering from diabetes.

4. They are gluten-free and  a perfect mix of protein and carbohydrates. So anyone looking for weight loss can definitely have a try at these wonderful Makhanas.

5. They are also known to have anti-inflammatory properties and reducing ageing.
6. They are also very beneficial for kidneys.
Health benefits of Makhana(Lotus seeds)

Below are some ways in which you can consume Makhanas.  :
Heat a pan add a spoon of oil in it. Add some mustard seeds and curry leaves with a pinch of salt and turmeric.
Add the Makhanas and heat them till they become crisp.
Let it cool and your snack is ready. You can also add peanuts in it. 
In summer you can also make delicious chilled kheer. Heat milk and reduce it.
Add jaggery/ sugar.
Add in the Makhanas. Keep stirring til it becomes thick like kheer.
Add dry fruits and cardamom powder and serve chilled.
